Bailiff

A bailiff has many different tasks.

On the on hand the bailiff takes locally enforceable measures, which may involve the bailiff searching the debtor’s premises to satisfy a financial claim. On the other hand he is also responsible when enforcing different entitlements (e.g.. handover entitlements, evictions, clearances etc.).

Furthermore the bailiff is tasked with recording an affidavit from the debtor which is required if seizure of goods is not possible or if the debtor objects to the search.

The bailiff may also be tasked with serving documents (e.g. termination notices, enforcement orders). He is particularly responsible for serving attachment and transfer orders.
